IN-HOUSE LABORATORY

In-House Lab and Blood Work, 24 Hours a Day

Our own laboratory runs inside the hospital, so blood work, urinalysis and clotting tests come back in minutes instead of days.

Open 24/7 · No Appointment Needed

THE SHORT ANSWER

Why your pet needs lab work tonight

If your pet is vomiting, weak, not eating, drinking far more than usual, or may have swallowed a toxin, we need to see inside the bloodstream before we treat. Blood work tells us whether the kidneys, liver, blood sugar and red blood cell count are safe, and whether it is safe to sedate. We run it here, and most results are back within the hour.

What our in-house lab does

Sending a sample to an outside laboratory takes a day or more. In an emergency, that is a day your pet does not have. Greenlight runs its own analyzers inside every hospital, so the doctor treating your pet reads the results while you are still in the room.

01

A small sample

Most panels need only a few drops of blood, or a urine sample collected with ultrasound guidance.

02

Run on site

The sample goes straight to our analyzers in the treatment area. Nothing is couriered anywhere.

03

Results in minutes

A complete blood count and chemistry panel are usually back within the hour, often sooner.

04

Explained in plain words

The doctor shows you what is high, what is low, and what it changes about the plan.

When your pet needs lab work

These are the situations where our doctors order blood work before anything else.

Vomiting or diarrhea that has lasted more than a day

Not eating, hiding, or unusually weak or wobbly

Drinking and urinating far more than normal

Possible ingestion of a toxin, a medication or antifreeze

Pale, yellow or very red gums

Before sedation, anesthesia or emergency surgery

A known condition such as diabetes or kidney disease that may be flaring

An older pet that suddenly seems off with no obvious cause

What to expect

A technician draws a small blood sample, usually from the neck or a front leg, and it takes less than a minute. Urine may be collected with a needle guided by ultrasound, which is faster and cleaner than waiting for your pet to go on their own. Samples go straight to the analyzers a few steps away. Most panels are back within the hour, and the doctor goes through the numbers with you before recommending anything.

Results within the hour

Complete blood count, chemistry, electrolytes and clotting times, all run on site.

Available all night

The laboratory does not close. Neither do we.
